2014 IO Extended In GDG Benin

The Google IO Extended 2014, as put together by GDG Benin in collaboration with the University of Benin and funded by Google, was a huge success.

At the Google IO Extended 2014 by GDG Benin, we had an agenda that covered the motivation, mission, objectives, and scope of GDG Benin (because this was our very first public event), as well as what Google IO represents and how we can benefit from the “IO Extended” event.

Of course we had fun with the keynote session but did not stream it live because our event held on the 26th. So we downloaded and played it in recorded form, but the excitement and enthusiasm of the audience was equally electrifying as we constantly kept hearing shouts of excitement from the audience as stats, announcements and previews were made of Android, Chrome, Material Design e.t.c

We had dignitaries like the chief Systems Librarian of the University of Benin, and the Webmaster of the University of Benin in attendance. The Webmaster, Mr Chijioke Mokogwu, gave a talk on Cloud Computing and all the rave about it, as well as offerings from Google and Amazon.

Finally, we had an interactive session with all present on the way forward for GDG Benin – by way of deliberating on better collaboration, adoption of open and innovative  technologies, meetings periods and issues we would like to solve with tech.

We had refreshment and the privilege to cut the GDG Benin inauguration cake which was very tasty and had plenty of Google branding! See pictures here : http://goo.gl/Kn0mQV

Big thanks to Google for making a difference again.
